Will my computer run a GTX980ti without bottlenecking?

Hi all! Thanks for the help today! So I'm currently running a GTX670 but my recent choice of games (GTAV, The Witcher, Ark:Survival evolved) etc means I'm fed up with low frame rates and need a new card!

I have decided on the GTX980ti. Will my computer run it well, or will the CPU/etc bottleneck it?

Any advice would be appreciated! I can get these components new, or if they are OK, I'll just head out and grab a new shiny GTX980ti without any other fuss

Yes, it will run it without any problem whatsoever.

My friend runs it on an old "Gulftown" i7...no problems and he is probably losing a little here and there.

Your CPU is still well within any game being able to bring it to its knees

The difference between i5 3570k to i5 4690k is ignoreable, especially for games. Your proc is still top up2date.
GTX980Ti is nice.

For sure, as others have said, you're within 10% of the best (sensible) gaming rig you could get today anyway.

My only comment would be that a 980ti is pretty massive overkill for your 1080p@60 monitor. There's nothing wrong with that, other than the fact that you could spend half the price and still get excellent performance. A 970 is somewhere between extremely capable, and a bit of overkill for 1080p... let alone a 980ti.

Your money, and there's no question that the 980ti is a good card and you have a good rig, just letting you know you could get equivalent performance for a lot less money.

imho you should consider AMD new tech: R9 Fury X, R9 Fury, e R9 Nano.

For 1080p / 1440p R9 Nano seems a nice option.

GTX970 is indeed the best buy but GTX980Ti is stronger.
Both are still best buys with GTX970 leading in term best buy.
Games like Witcher 3 on 1080p @ ultra with HairWorks activated could use even a GTX980Ti.
The statement that you need only GTX970 @60 fps on 1080p is not fully correct.
Upgrading plan to 1440p is also nice if you already have GTX980Ti under the hood.

Yes, rough estimation
Fury == GTX970 and Fury X == GTX980Ti.
You should consider those too.
Just remember if you have plans to get GSync or FreeSync monitor, consider well before choosing your GPU.

Depends on the game. Some really eat up CPUs nowadays. I would say its borderline, could be faster. But since you have a Z77 board and a K CPU, you can easily overclock and make it a perfect fit.

You are all awesome! Thanks heaps for the advice!

My overall plan is to save the money on new MOBO's and monitors etc, and then in a year's time I'll update the whole rig and maybe get a second (by then much cheaper) 980ti to SLI. So if this can handle the current game, I save the money for new components in the future, while then getting some more playtime out of the new GTX.

And yea, I couldn't agree more that the 970 would more than handle my rig...but for some reason I'm totally excited about the 980ti and a massive fanboy of that card right now
