Will my computer run Guild Wars 2?

My gaming PC's motherboard died just before the release of guild wars 2 and I wanted to know if my old computer will run it ok

My specs are

Intel Core 2 Duo E6700, 2.66ghz 4mb cache
Sapphire HD 6450 1GB DDR3, 12.5GB/s... 2.5GP/s... 15GT/s (using PCI-E 1.1 bus... that shouldn't effect this card though)
3GB DDR2 @ 333mhz (667)
and the worst OS, windows vista home premium 32bit.


I was just running Crysis at a playable 15-20fps (if you consider this playable anyway lol) on medium settings at 1280x720.

It will likely run okay with everything on low. The 6450 can run the game at 30 fps on low at 1080p but I think your ram may hold you back (see the review). The game uses about 1.5 GB on med at 1366 by 768 and your RAM is really slow (the game is heavy on the CPU)

For comparison, I have the gt 525m and intel i7 and can run crysis 1 at 25-40 fps with a mix of medium and high settings at 1366 by 768. I can run guild wars 2 at 30-50 fps (in the grove and human areas) with environment, textures, and animations high, draw distance med, and high res character textures.

Looks like your card will get you around 30fps.

That's actually pretty impressive to say it's at 1080p... not sure what the low settings look like though. I supposed I could always experiment with the settings.

The HD 6450 is also a pretty good overclocker (probably because it's such a low end chip lol), I've managed to run it stably at 810mhz from the original 625mhz with temps of around 50c... the Vram was at 800mhz.

Just looking at the processors effects on FPS. It seems (like whyso said) that this game is very CPU heavy.

The pentium averages 53fps with a HD7970 and clock for clock my Core 2 Duo has around 70-80% performance of the pentium (SB) "well theoretically".... this difference in results I saw looking at benchmarks of the sandy bridge pentium @ 2.7ghz vs my Core 2 Duo @ 2.66ghz (both using DDR3 though)... I'm also guessing at lower settings the game shouldn't really be bottlenecked by my CPU as much as a 7970 with a pentium at the highest settings using 1280x1024 resolution (who in the right mind would do that? hahaha).

Windows index Experience goes up to 7.9 on Windows 7 and up to 5.9 on Windows Vista

Its good ENOUGH. But you will or might get low performance.

As many have already stated it will run.

Don't expect to get 60 fps in lion's arch however.
