[SOLVED] Will my CPU be good enough for my GPU?

Good day lads,
So today I've bought a new GPU, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming X 8G.
My current CPU (Core i5 4440) is heavily bottlenecking this GPU.
Therefore I'm going to upgrade my CPU. I am about to buy the Core i7 6700K tomorrow.
The bottleneck calculator however, says that even that CPU would bottleneck my new GPU a little. Is this true?
If not, would it be true if I add my other GPU, the Gigabyte GTX 1050ti?
I plan to add it in the future.
Please tell me the 6700K is fine lol.

Other specs:
RAM: DDR3 2x4GB
Cooler: Stock cooler, planning on buying a new one
PSU: 500W (might have to upgrade idk bout that)
Mobo: MSi H81M-P33

Many thanks,
Leronus.

But not ram. Or cooler. Both of which will be necessary. It may look like a good sale, but overall it's going to cost a lot more than he's saving for the same performance as something newer.

The 6700k will be fine, but is there a reason you are choosing that over say a modern processor?

Bottleneck calculators are a joke, at best. If you look around at other threads regarding them youll see posts of people getting vastly different results just based on time taken.

Yeah it's on sale with a good motherboard so it's a lot cheaper than a newer series. Thanks for the reply I'm gonna get it!

Huh? Op has a i5 4400. Last I heard that 6th/7th gen cpus don't work on a 4th gen lga1150 mobo's, unless there's been a development in the last 24hrs.

Meaning, it's not just a cpu you'll need to buy, but a motherboard and ram since lga1151 is ddr4 and your current setup is ddr3.

It'll be a complete platform upgrade, so unless you are getting some sort of spectacular deal on that i7, then it's seriously not worth the upgrade when compared to even 2nd Gen Ryzen or 8th gen Intel at similar pricing.

And that's not including some sort of serious cpu cooler, that's not mentioned and not included with the i7. Had better be almost free cpu to be of any kind of deal. That cpu pretty much goes head-to-head with either a 2600 or a 9400f, so buying something with absolutely no upgrade path, requiring top line cpu coolers on dead end motherboards just isn't value for the money.

You should be fine with the i7-6700K and the GTX 1080. Right at the margin, but OK. Tom's CPU Hierarchy Chart still has the 6700K listed in the top tier of CPUs. And in the upper half of the chart in fact. If your board has a late BIOS, you can move to the 7-series CPU equivalent, the i7-7700K for a little more headroom.

Thanks, what about 2 gpu'

The Core i7 6700K comes with the Asrock Z170 Extreme 4+ motherboard (1151 chipset). So does this motherboard not support DDR3 RAM?

No. There are a very few that use DDR3L which is a low voltage version, but other than them, as of 6thgen lga1151 and AM4 all new motherboards have switched to DDR4, as it allows for greater speeds and higher amounts of bandwidth over the old DDR3.

You'll also need to purchase a decent cpu cooler, as the i7-6700k does not come with a stock version, and the stock cooler on the i5-4th gen is inadequate. Unless you already have a decent cooler, but expect to spend upwards of $40 extra.
