Hello everyone,
Recently built a gaming rig. I've been successfully gaming and enjoying the build for about a week. I decided on a whim to install a hardware monitor out of curiosity what sort of temps my CPU was registering.
CPU is: i-5 4570
Lo and behold my CPU seems to be running a bit hot on the windows home screen... about 35 Celsius. So I decide to run BF4 and see what happens... I'm now getting about 80+ Celsius. NEXT I run Prime 95... this causes the CPU temps to go above 100 Celsius... at this I quickly stopped Prime 95. I took apart my rig and figured out my CPU fan was not seated properly and the thermal paste was not evenly spread.........
So I've been unknowingly gaming on some pretty graphic heavy titles for about a week with this problem... i.e. Witcher 2, Battlefield 4...
I re-seated my CPU heat sink and performed the Prime 95 stress test again for about 30 mins. Temps are now maxing out around 70-72 Celsius. BF4 doesn't even cause the CPU to go above 55 Celsius. So I fixed the problem.
My question is: Do you think my CPU suffered any permanent damage from the week of improper usage?
