Will my forwarded ports go if I reset my router?

I have a lot of forwarded ports in my router(I don't remember the ports). The only problem is that I forgot the password for my router and I want to forward some other ports. I can reset the router in order to access it again but I'm afraid that my forwarded ports will get deleted. Any help would be appreciated.

Solution

When the password is forgotten, usually the only way to gain access would be to factory reset the router. This would result in a complete reset of all user configured settings (including loss of any forwarded ports).

Unfortunately there really isn't a way around this unless of course you can somehow figure out the existing password.

If you reset the router back to factory state, it will indeed wipe out all of your existing settings.

The only way around this is to know the current password and document all of that.
For future use, most routers have an export feature, whereby you can export the current settings out to a file.
Save that, and if you have to reset it in the future...you can recover from that file.

I didn't know that we could save the settings of a router. Thanks for the info!

All depends on if your router has that functionality. Here is mine:
