Will my frayed cable 'fix' stick?

I have a fraying cable on my mouse and I decided to try and fix it. I used the spring trick but it only got much worse, so I tried taping it around the mouse.

It tracks fine and the tape doesn't really affect it, but I have only had it for 5 months, hate sending things off and Saitek (or however they spell it) is not really known for their customer support.
In normal use, will these keep working? Or will the cable stop working at this angle?
Thanks.

yeah... thats not going to work.

eventually its going to stop working again.

you could try opening up the mouse (theres a video on youtube which shows you how to open it up) and then repairing or replacing the cable depending on what the connector is like inside the mouse. if its a plug perhaps you can find another cable with the same plugs (or an end you can crimp on at least) and if its soldered on perhaps you can cut the wire shorter and resolder the ends.

taping the wireo nto the mouse like that isnt going to be anything but a temporary bandaid.

How long will it last? I had a look on YouTube but couldn't find the video, could you link me?
It's a damn pain, but I suppose I don't have a choice. I usually replace my stuff after a year or so, and I'd like to avoid buying another one for as long as possible. The mouse is absolutely incredible, particularly the arrows in FPS (flicking my finger across it is actually a lot faster and more comfortable than pressing a button to switch guns), but I can't justify spending £80 every 5 months.

I've been at this for what seems like an eternity lol. I can't get one of the damn screws out, the others came without too much hassle.
Anyways, do you have any idea how long it would last if I gave up and put the tape back on it? The thing is KILLING my poor hands haha.
