hi all.
i have i7-4770k @3.5 GhZ ,gtx 970 3x windforce and 16gb ram,600 w psu. im planning on buying MSI gtx 1080 ti OC armor 11gb. i mainly use pc for gaming and im affraid it might bottleneck gpu. i want to have heaps of fps on ultra settings on battlefield 1 and new upcoming WW2. i am playing on a 1920x1080.
please advise

Solution
For games like BF1, I value FPS over resolution any day. I'd go 1440p 144Hz.

But it's really up to your own preference. If you are happy with the input latency and response of 60fps/60Hz for games like that, then go for it.

For me, I don't want to see my FPS drops/minimums going any lower than 60, I like them to hover around 120-144. So I'd personally go for 1440p.

When gaming in 4K @ 60Hz you'll need to slightly lower certain settings from Ultra to keep the fps from dropping below 60, even with a 1080Ti. You can get a 4K G-Sync monitor, but they don't come cheap.

at 1080p yes

going to need to overclock the cpu a bit

how much do you recommend? what is my other option if i dont OC cpu?

also is it more important at this moment getting better cpu or monitor ?

you dont need a new cpu, you need to overclock the one you have

if you want to run it stock, get a gtx 1080 or gtx 1070

a 1440p monitor would be nice

thx for the answer. now when yiu mentioned monitors...is it better ti get 1440p @ 144hz or should i get 4k monitor as prices are about the same? as i understood with 4k ill have better resolution @ 60Hz (does this mean ill have 60 fps in say bf1?) but with 1440p @144hz performance will be better with higher fps?

thanks for the answe. just 5 mins ago i ordered 1440p @ 144hz monitor. im for fps all the way also. onw more thing. what power supply does 1080ti requires? i have 650w . do i need to uprgrade?

a good one, which model specifically do you have?

not all power supplies are actually good and can deliver the wattage they claim without blowing up and taking pc parts with them

Hello,

This thread is a few months old but I am faced with a similar situation. I have a i7-4770k, overclocked to 4.1 GhZ. I am hoping that the 4.1 GhZ overclock will be enough to avoid bottlenecking a GTX 1080ti OC. I know it will be close but does anyone have any experience they can share?
