Will my internet speed get higher if i have a router with 300+mbps

So i've decided to take a router so i can use a wi-fi with it, but im not very familiar with router stuff. These are the once that i chose.

My normal internet speed (With cable atm.) is 80mbps/80mbps (around that). If i get a Router that says 300mbps or as the one that i have looked at 450mbps, will it be any difference ?

No it doesn't work like that. You will get the speed that you have subscribed and pay for from your ISP (internet service provider). If you pay for 50mbps for example, you will only get a max of 50 at best, doesn't matter what router you buy.

All that the 300mbps router means is that it is capable of 300, not that if you connect it up your speed will magically increase from 50 to 300.

^^^^ what he said what the extra speed will be good for is for home networking. if you decide to share files between the devices in the house, then those files will transfer at this 300 mb speed since it is all internal to the network. anything coming from outside the network (your internet connection) will be at whatever speed you pay for, in this case 80/80 mbs

Wow thanks guys for the fast reply. One more thing > When i search for routers i see 150/300/450mbps etc. But some of them that are high-tech have N***+AC**** (*-numbers) at the place where it should show the mbps, what does that mean ? + I bet more than half of the population that use routers don't have more than 100mbps internet speed, why would they create such beast routers if almost no one will use them ?

AC is a technology that basically delivers higher speed wireless connection with latest devices.

My advise is to get the AC router for best future proofing and best speed with mobile devices.

Got it. Can i still put my cable into the AC router or are they wireless-only ?

Absolutely most if not all of routers also have a wired ethernet connection port so yes, you can have wired computer + wireless wifi.

Both the routers you picked have 4 ethernet out ports so no issue there.

Ok. I know i take your time sir but one last thing 😀 - Do i need to add something more to have wifi ? Or is it enough just to set up the router ?

The whole point of the router and all this speed and technology IS to have wifi the router will give you the wifi

the point of all the speed is, as i said before, not for the internet connection but for in home networking. if you share or stream files withing your house all the extra speed goes to this. your internet connections is only a part of the data that can go across the wifi connection. true you need at least as much speed as your internet connection but the extra can go to so much more.

think about wifi security cameras or other such things. these send the data over your wifi. if you only have enough bandwidth for the internet connection then this data flow will fight for space and slow down your internet connection.

i have a gigabit network in my house but i also share a huge media library with many devices around the house and even a neighbor who has access to it. i have easily seen 500+ mbs being used in house for media streaming and bursts higher when transferring large files to and fro. add in my 50/50 internet connection and i would never make it on a 1-200 mbs router. this is what the extra speed is for

and if you have a choice get the ac router as it is the newest latest greatest version out there. it just allows for more data flow in case you ever need it. the b/g/n/ac refer to the speeds it can attain in house and ac is just the fastest. n is plenty fast however for the pc end of it if you are buying wifi connectors if the ac ones cost too much.
