Will my motherboard support the GTX 1050 ti?

Hi there!

I have a 4th gen Haswell PC that I built on my own a couple of years ago, I was on a tight budget and couldn't afford a graphics card at the time. This whole time I've been relying on integrated HD graphics 4600 . Anyway, I was just a little curious if my motherboard would be good enough to handle either the GTX 1050ti or AMD RX 470. It would be great if you could give me some insights concerning my PSU as well! Here are my PC specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4430 3.0 @GHz
Motherboard: MSI Z87-G43 Gaming (LGA 1150)
Ram: 4GB Adata XPG ddr3 (1600 MHz)
PSU: Cooler Master GX2 550W (80+ bronze)
Monitor: Acer V193HQV 19.5 Max Resolution 1366x768

Your motherboard has 2 x gen. 3 PCI-E 16 slots...so yes it will support a GTX 1050 Ti....or a GTX 1080 for that matter.

Yes your board supports any GPU on the market as it has a PCIE 3.0 x16 slot. Your PSU isnt great and the RX 470 is a bit power hungry but that'll probably be fine too. It may get bottlenecked by the CPU slightly, but the 1050Ti is a perfect match.

I'd add another 4gb ram to your system, then get the 470, this is the best results option. Alternatively, get the 1050 Ti and the 4gb ram. Option 3, get the 1050 Ti, no extra ram. The 470 makes sense with an 8gb i5 system but not with a 4gb system. As far as the power supply goes, I wouldn't look to Cooler master for a power supply but since you already have it then you might as well use it.

I'm planning on getting an other 4GB ram stick along with the graphics card. As for the 470, it's still way expensive when compared to the gtx 1050 ti so i'm gonna stick with the latter.
I had no prior experience when it comes to PSUs before, I thought it was only a matter of Wattage, but I heard the GX 2 550w is somehow better than the GX 550w, plus it's 80+ bronze certified so I guess it wouldn't be that bad until my next upgrade
