Will my motherboard support this CPU?

Hey guys! So I have two very important questions to ask to make sure I don't royally screw up my Christmas shopping!

First off: My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-F2A75M-D3H. I'm not sure how CPU sockets work or how to tell looking online what CPU's can fit in what sockets, so that is why I have come here. The CPU in question that I have been looking at is the Intel i5 Core 6600k. If this CPU wouldn't be compatible, would it be cheaper to upgrade my motherboard (I don't have to have a mini ATX, that was a mistake on my part, not realizing that it was actually a mini), or would I be better off just to choose a different CPU?

My next question was this: Would it be compatible with my current DDR3-1866 Memory? I have 2 8GB memory sticks in currently.

To conclude, I want to make sure it's noted that all of this is for gaming purposes, just want to make sure that is clear. Thanks guys!

Hi Blake,

This motherboard ONLY supports AMD CPUs, not Intel ones. So sorry, the i5 won't work.
In order for me to suggest something else, could I ask about your other components?

If you want to keep your current board, then the top processor for it is this: AMD A10-6800K (according to pcpartpicker). That's $109.99.
Your DDR3 memory should work on most motherboards for the forseeable future.

Okay, so, just to be clear, if I find a Motherboard that will support DDR3 AND the 1151 socket then I will be able to use both the Memory and the CPU? Any suggestions on that? Here is a link to the memory I have installed if that will help:

Actually, that is the CPU that I currently own. My GPU is the EVGA GTX 760. Looks like I am going to need to upgrade my Motherboard then! Any other parts you're going to need to know about?

Well to get the most out of the i5-6600K (overclocking) you will want a Z170 MB, there's only 4 of them currently that support DDR3 RAM and 3 of them are ATX (the other is M-ATX). Will a ATX MB fit in your current case?

Another option and to save a bit of $$$ would be to go haswell i5 and Z97 MB (or non k i5 and H97 MB for a tight budget). Most haswell MB should support that RAM and 4th gen i5's are still great CPU's.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($209.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97N-WIFI Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard ($103.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $313.98

or non overclockable:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor ($179.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock H97M-ITX/AC Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard ($78.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $258.97

Yes, I do believe my case will fit a normal ATX board. I have a Raidmax Viper Mid-Tower case, which has PLENTY of room for one. I will probably get the Asus Z170-P then.

PCPartpicker says that it works with DDR3-1866 RAM, is there something I'm missing? Just a little confused here....is there something else I have to check to see if it's compatible? Thanks a ton for you help by the way!

Okay awesome! Thanks a TON guys! Looks I'll be getting the 6600k CPU and the Z170 MB. Really really helped me out, made all of this way easier, and all around 2 hours!
