My PC is running W10(64bit) and my board is a Gigabyte Ga-78-LMT-USB3 (revision 4.1). It's got AHCI set and it's in EFI mode for BIOS currently using a 250Gb SSD as boot and a 2TB drive for Programs and Games.
I've been looking at buying a bigger drive so I can clone the 2TB over to it and use the 2TB for media storage, and the Toshiba X300 6TB had caught my eye. However I've heard rumours that my board may not support a drive bigger than 2TB, and seeing as how the drive is nearly £200, I thought I'd better ask you guys before I splash the cash.

Will my board take the 6TB or am I out of luck?

Your PC can support 6TB drive just fine.
You will have to format the new drive in GPT partition format, to access all of it's capacity.
