Question Will my old CPU bottleneck my GPU?

I have an old PC with an Intel Pentium G2020 processor. The integrated graphics are shit, so I'm planning to upgrade to a 1050 ti. Both my motherboard and PSU support it. My question is, will the processor hinder performance a lot? I'm fine with playing games on low-medium settings, but will using said graphics card with such a CPU bottleneck it to the point where it's unplayable? I understand that it also depends on whether a game is CPU or GPU-hungry, but I just need opinions on whether I should go for the 1050ti or if it would be a complete waste.

Thanks a lot!

If you have absolutely no plans to upgrade to a better CPU in the foreseeable future, then a 1050Ti should be fine. If you expect to upgrade soon-ish, then it may be worth considering a GTX1660 or the rumored soon-to-be-announced GTX1650. Another option would be to look at used 8GB RX480/580 which can be had for $100-150 thanks to the crypto crash.

I don't plan on using this rig for hardcore gaming, just need it for multiplayer gaming with my main PC. I'll look into the options you've provided, thanks a lot!

Even if the CPU holds back the performance a bit it's still going to be a massive improvement over the iGPU.

This RX 570 4gb should be cheaper then most 1050/ti's and will outperform them.

Wow, I never looked at anything other than the 1050ti, the RX 570 is almost half the price and looks like it performs far better than the 1050ti. Thanks a lot for the help, I appreciate it!
