Hello to the wonderful community of Tomshardware!
I'm new to the world of 'building PC's' and I was wondering if my build would actually work?
http://nz.pcpartpicker.com/list/n9Yspb
CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212X 82.9 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory)
Storage: Samsung 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB Strix Video Card
Case: Zalman Z1 Neo ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

Any suggestions that are potentially better for a cheaper price are welcomed!
Also if you could add a youtube video name that has a nice tutorials for newbies would be much appreciated aswell!!
I will also delete this forum if requested..

Thanks in advanced and have a wonderful day!

Solution
Looks like a very good, budget build. One issue (Not major) I see is the Z170 Motherboard. This can be seen in 2 ways. A waste of money due to you having a locked CPU, as Z170s are made for overclocking Unlocked CPUs (You can overclock Locked CPUs, but it isn't recommended, and it wont get as high as unlocked due to it not being made for that reason) and the other way is that it can be used for future upgrades, such as if you plan on upgrading to a 6700k (Unlocked CPU, allows overclocking).

Also, that build seems pretty good to me. Guessing the PSU is the EVGA 500B, in which case the needed 1x8 (In this case 6+2) pin power connector is available for the GPU.

If you're planning on getting an unlocked CPU in the future, there isn't...

If you're planning on getting an unlocked CPU in the future, there isn't really anything else I could recommend. Other than getting another 2x4GB kit of that RAM, as 16GB is always an extra boost over 8GB, in which most games need as a minimum nowadays.

If you don't plan on getting an unlocked CPU for overclocking, then I would get a H170 Motherboard (or something lower than the Z170) and maybe get a 250GB SSD (Preferably Samsung), and that double storage is definitely a good option.

Also, another thing I noticed. You could also upgrade to a 6600, a slight extra boost from 3.2GHz base clock to 3.3GHz, and I think it's an extra $30-ish?

Would it change the performance of the PC drastically if I were to downgrade to a Pentium G4400, changing 4gbx2 to a 8gbx2 and switching to a 250gb SSD?

It wouldn't necessarily change the performance drastically, but you will only have 2C2T, rather than 4C4T, the way I look at it (it isn't true) but it'll do half the calculations, as it has half the cores/threads. You don't have to upgrade to 16GB of RAM or 250GB SSD, but after owning a 128GB SSD, it fills up quickly, and with an extra 120GB on the SSD, you can install a few favorite games onto it, so it loads quicker.

the 16GB isn't necessary, as you can easily upgrade to 16GB after you save up some more money, and it is definitely worth the upgrade, as most modern games use 8GB (Or around) so that'll bottleneck some games.

Personally, I would save up a bit of extra money and add these things in.

Also, is the Samsung SSD the 750 Evo or the 850 Evo, if it is the 850, downgrade to a 750 Evo but get 250GB, as it is the same/really similar price.

750 Evo. So keep the core and don't need more ram, save up money to upgrade? Sounds like a plan 😀 Do you have any other cores that you recommend?

The way I'm looking at it currently, is get the i5-6500, for the 4C4T, and get a 250GB 750 Evo, and keep 8GB of RAM for now, and get another 8GB later on when you've saved up a little bit of money.

Only other thing is do you have an OS included? or do you plan on using one of the free ones.

Well, first things first I'm getting Windows 8/8.1 out of it, I hate W8. I would recommend either Windows 7 or 10, although 10 is cheaper at the current time.

I guess it's time to put on an eyepatch and shout "Harr Harr me mate' " just if things don't turn out how it's suppose to. Well, I can't thank you enough for all the help you've given me! I truly hope you have an awesome evening and continue to help others as you have with me!

No Worries, glad I could help.

I needed a way to cheer me up, unfortunately I wont have an awesome evening but hopefully it is better than my day is now.

Glad I could help you, I hope you have a good day!
