Hello, so I had this computer for a good year now, it is getting a bit old since I am not able to run most of the newer games so I was wondering if a GPU upgrade would be a good idea? I really don't know if my pc would handle most of these new GPU's so I really need some help here!

My specs:
CPU: i5-4440S
GPU: GT 640
Motherboard: Asus H81M-E
PSU: AcBel HBA005 350W
RAM: 12gb

Your main problem would probably be that PSU, the 1060 is recommended to run with a good 400w PSU minimum. I am not familiar with AcBel but looking around it seems like a pretty poor brand. Personally I would get the 1060 and a decent PSU, you don't list your case but as that is a mini ITX motherboard I will also say you should make sure that the card you choose will physically fit in your case.

My case is called the Asus m31ad is there any other gpu's that would go with my PSU? Or would I actually have to get a new one because I do not know how to even replace a psu in the first place.
