Hello everyone,

First of all, I want to clarify that I WILL NOT BE GAMING ON MY PC AT ALL.
Also, I'm very noob with computers...

I work at home with my pc, so I use it quite a lot everyday. I upgraded my laptop for a pc a month ago, and I'm using and old 1280x1024 samsung monitor.

now I have saved enough money to buy a new monitor and I'm wondering if my pc can even run that resolution without problems.

My general usage consists in using MS Office, browsing the web and watching youtube videos (both work and for my own entertainment), reading pdf files , and using some miscellaneous software that I need for my job, but nothing too demanding. In the end, nothing very out of the normal.

My hardware:

Intel i3 4130 with an Intel HD 4400 and the stock cooler

Asus h81m-a with HDMI

8gb kingston RAM

My key doubt is that I heard that 1920x1080 demands a powerful GPU and CPU to properly work...

Both Intel and Asus claim that my hardware can reach 4k... But hardware developers may say anything for sales...

So, can my computer use FLUENTLY AND WITHOUT ISSUES a 1920x1080 monitor or should I play it safe and buy a 1366x768 monitor?

Thanks in advance!

Will it play it at 60 hz?

The HD 4400 chip itself can support it. In the case of 1080p@60hz that has been around since version 1 so there is nothing to worry about there; but for other features you are weakest link determines what the capabilities are. Your graphics chip, your motherboard port, your hdmi cable, your audio receiver, and your TV all have an HDMI version and everything is dropped down to the lowest HDMI version.

I'm sorry, but I can't understand what you are saying

Are you telling me that anything beyond 1080p@60Hz is not supported?

I'm not planning on going beyond that, though...

I am telling you that there are different versions of HDMI specification https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI
Every HDMI cable and HDMI port from your motherboard port to your TV has a version and if say 1 of those is version 1.2 and the rest are 1.4 then everything runs at 1.2 capabilities.

In your case 1920x1080@60hz is standard in version 1.0 so everything would be compatible with that.

Sorry for the confusion, I was just trying to give information about the general concept

Oh, I see- Thanks for the info. It's appreciated.

I think my Mobo's has a 1.4 HDMI port.

But anyway, with 1080p@60h I'm more than happy, I ain't planning on going 3D or 4K.

Thank you so much for all your help!!!
