Hello i have a quick question for everyone out there and would like to know if my 500 watt psu can handle this setup.

psu- http://www.amazon.com/PC-Power-Cooling-100-Percent-Capacitors/dp/B0064XAJ30/ref=pd_rhf_se_p_d_2

Current setup-
i7 2600k cpu
gt-610 gpu
8gb ddr3 ram
Asus P8Z77-V LK Intel Z77 DDR3 LGA 1155 Motherboard
-

and i plan on adding a gtx780 into the mix.
if i make this addition can i stick with my current psu or do i have to upgrade to a better psu first

Solution

GTX 780 uses 250W and requires 600W PSU as this link says :

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-780/specifications

and :

1.System in IDLE = 120W
2.System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 372W
3.Difference (GPU load) = 252W
4.Add average IDLE wattage ~10W
5.Subjective obtained GPU power...

That is what EVGA recommends.
But... I was researching the Ncase M1, a ITX case with limited roof for a full sized psu.
Users were running a titan using a Silverstone 450W sff psu.
It's data plate shows only 36a for +12v.

5.Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 262 Watts

So I suggested that a 650W PSU would be better, and I think some spare power would not hurt.

Solution
If you assumed that ALL of the 375w load was at 12v, the max amperage consumed would be 31a.

With modern cpu and other parts, It seems that the GTX780 will do well enough with less than the evga spec.
They may be accounting for less than good quality psu units.

To my mind, though, it is the actual users asserting that their GTX780 or titan cards run well on less is most compelling.

I have no problem in overprovisioning. But, if one already owns a quality psu, I see no harm in trying it first.
