Will my PSU support a good GPU?

Hey guys! This is my first post here.
Ok, I have a 430 watt PSU with a +12v 18 amp rail.
I would like to get a GeForce GT 640 4GB or a GeForce GTX 750 TI 2GB.
It all depends on my budget. (I'm not rich)
I just want to know if theses cards will work with my PSU.
The GT 640 says it needs 350 watts. The 750 TI needs 300 watts. (Minimum)
I have enough watts. I'm jut not sure about the Amps though.
I know that Amps are more important then watts.
My +12v rail will be putting out 216 watts. (12x18= 216)
I understand that the PCIE-x16 can only put out 75 watts. (A little more or less)
Will theses card work on my PSU?

If I not I will get a 500 watt 30+ amp PSU. (Evga or Corsair)
I do not have a lot of money.
If I do not need a new PSU I would like to use the money for a GPU.
My system is running fine on a old unbranded 350 watt PSU with a +12v 12 Amp rail.
I do not over clock. Thanks for the help!

I build all of my systems, so there is no need to try to dumb things down for me.
I just do not want to spend money on a PSU if I do not need to.

It depends on what your whole system spec is but likelyhood is you can power a 750 ti no trouble.

I have an Asus P5N-D MOB.

2x Sata HDDs for data storage.

1x SSD for programs and OS.

Windows 7 64-Bit.

8GB of RAM.

1x CD drive.

1x 1GB GPU.

1x Intel E8400 at stock speeds.

1x Intel Copper Core cooler.

2x 80mm fans on intake.

3x 120mm fans exhaust.

1x 60mm fan for cooling the North Bridge.

(All fans are blue LED.)

the gtx 750ti draws like 70watts at load, if you drop that in your system then it'll be just fine you wont have to do a power supply upgrade. on the other hand gt640 draws a lot more power than the 750ti and i would upgrade to a name brand 80 bronze power supply to be safe.

if your gonna go with the 750TI then your current power supply should be fine
if your gonna go with the 640 get a better name brand power supply. OEM power supplies have a bad rap for being janky. 500 wat 80plus bronze certified should be sufficient

most 430w psu that are rated like that have dual 12v rail that provides you with 18a/16a each. verify that you dont have 2 12v rails. if you do you can add the amperage together unless otherwise stated on the psu. also what is the make/model of your psu?

It's like a BMW compared to a Skoda.

I assume this being a 430W it's a Seasonic or Corsair unit but I may be wrong.

Ok, I got a good name brand PSU. (The 430 watt)
My PSU I'm using right now it the unbranded junk! (The 350 watt)
Surprisingly the unbranded PSU has been a work horse.
The 430 watts PSU is made by the same company the makes the EVGA PSUs.
I'm waiting for my Cooler Master HAF 912 before I install the 430 watt PSU.
I will have to see. I want to get the 750 TI. It is only $40 more.

I want the 750 Ti. My Budget is small.

I would not get a BMW. LOL My boss has one and it is always broke. LOL

I do not have dual +12v rails. The PSU is made by the same company that makes the EVGA PSUs.
It just has there logo on it. I looked that up right away.

My 430 watt PSU has a 80 bronze rating.

The 750ti is a mercedes to the skoda of the 640.

the point i'm trying to make is that the 750 ti is an upper middle class powered GPU whereas the 640 is fairly low end.

You can power a 750ti no trouble.

The only reason I would consider the GT 640 is because it is cheaper and is better then my GPU.
Anything is better then my GPU! LOL It was free, so I used it until I can get a good 750 TI.

I did some math and the GPU GeForce 750 TI will only be pulling 5 Amps at peak.
My system will be fine with the 430 watt PSU.
