Hi!

I hope to be getting the B350M Motherboard and was wondering if my RAM would still work in the new mobo. It specifies that it can use 1866/ 2133/ 2400/ 2667(OC)/ 2933(OC)/ 3200(OC)+ Mhz but when i check my Mhz using speccy or CPU-Z it appears as 1064.5 Mhz. I found I had to double that to get 2129 Mhz, however this is not listed. Will the RAM still work or will i need to get new sticks? (If it matters im using 2x8gb DDR4 288 pin)

Thanks

Solution

Yes any DDR4 ram will work in that board.

Your ram is 2133Mhz thats why it shows as 1065. DDR = Double Data Rate. 1065 x 2 = 2133.

Solution
1866/2133 etc is effective speed
your ram (and everybody elses) is running at half speed then what it says
this is normal for DDR as it can send two command per one clock, which means its effective speed is doubled
some apps/bioses shows frequency, some shows effective speed, both are same

your ram is runing in 2133MHZ (effective) +- few mhz diff due to clock generator
