Will my rig run Ultra on High End games? I may have frame drops from issues.

Im experiencing some issues with certain games like the new Tomb Raider. With my current build i would have expected to play anything at max settings and have no trouble, but im finding it hard to even reach 50fps on most demanding games. Planetside 2 i can achieve about 42fps on average during full battle conflict, but during TR i can only achieve maybe 28-30 fps.

AMD 8370 4.3ghz 8 core
FX990 Gigabyte Motherboard
2x r9 280x Gigabyte OC Editions (Crossfired)
8gigs ram 1866mhz
750w thermaltake PSU 80+ gold cert

ive got an SSD and a terabyte of hard drive space but i dont think those really matter for quality
With my current build I would have expected to run anything but it almost seems like i have frame rate issues on Tomb Raider at max settings

I should be able to ultra pretty much anything with that setup though right?

Sell those 2 GPUs and get a single GTX 970, which WOULD max out games. I am suspecting the Crossfire has in-game problems or it's thermal throttling.

I would think you should be getting better performance. It could be that those games are not optimized for crossfire. Do you have the latest drivers installed? Have you done any overclocking?

Ive yet to do any overclocking as everything was left factory default. Ive updated the drivers to their current and the only thing ive noticed so far that completely dumbfounds me is on 1 occasion i ran furmark and it shut the system down, but with exact same setup several times after it doesnt. Also when i turn on my computer, when i hit the button it comes on for a brief moment, shuts down within 1 second, then in 5 seconds turns on and goes about its buisness like normal. Not sure what that is causing it.

As far as temps, Ive had speccy open to watch during peak gaming times, the GPUS never go above 75c and my CPU has gone to 80-83c but i hear for AMDs thats fairly common. So im not sure if they are getting thermal throttled or not. Im still experiencing these issues with the majority of most high demand games. Im just not sure how to go about it or whats causing my issues
