Will my Ryzen 1400 be a good pair with a GTX 1070 or 1070 ti?

I have a Ryzen 5 1400 @3.65Ghz

I still have my old RX 460 2gb and was wondering if the 1070 or the 1070 ti will be a good upgrade.

I currently game on a 1920x1080p 75hz monitor.

My budget for this upgrade is only a little above $500.

Will i need to upgrade to a newer more powerful cpu and wait and save money?

are you having performance issue with the current cpu and gpu ? , they should be able to work well for 1080p gaming ...

if you are planning on upgrading , maybe you should wait a bit longer for the 10nm processors .. your processor and gpu is still new

What you have at hand is a very competent CPU which can be easily paired with a 1070 or 1070ti (there is only a minute increment in performance in the latter). What I would suggest, in case you have not done this already, is to buy a 1070 alongwith a good CPU cooler and overclock your CPU a bit more. You would be getting really good performance unless the title is a CPU hungry one.

1400 will do quite fine.
However, if you haven't bought it yet, the cheapest best value processors from Ryzen in my opinion is the 1600.
If you already have it, actually like you mentioned, 1400 is quite good for most games. I would simply keep it for now.
