Will my screen idea work?

Hello,
I'm currently using a 40" 1920x1080 60Hz monitor, and I wanted to buy a 21.5" 1920x1080 touchscreen monitor. So, I wanted to ask, if despite the fact, that the 40" isn't touchscreen, would I be able to combine theese two and use touchscreen only on one of them? Thanks for the responses

P.S.
Of course I'm using Windows 8, not that I'm very glad of it :/
