will my ssd with windows work on a whole new pc build

I have an ssd with windows 8.1 and lots of other stuff. I also have the disc i used to install the os and code. Right the question is, can i use the ssd as a boot drive on a hole new pc without wiping the drive? or do i have to wipe the drive and get a new os?

You will need a new OS - the old OS will work only on the old system.

You can use the old OS, but you will probably need to reinstall it (or at least do a Repair Install). You will then need to reactivate it.

If you only put that ssd and try to boot it with existing OS its very unlikely that it would work as is.
if you want not to lose data that you have in your disc and have that ssd as boot device.
1. connect your ssd
2. reinstall windows without format (i think repair also works via cd but cant guarantee tho).
3. run the PC it should work.

You should be able to use the SSD. I would think that you will need to reinstall windows though.
