Will my system handle 144hz?

yes. 1080p @144Hz. but not at ultra settings. at around high to mid-range graphic settings. this card will give you better than 60fps but will not give you a stable minimum of 144fps basically.

Yes it will. But even if you only get 100FPS in some game or less you will see a huge smoothness benefit. Also, you can keep you monitor for quite a few years and even for you next PC 144Hz will keep providing the benefits.
