Will my system handle R9 280X?

I currently use an XFX HD6870, but I plan on upgrading to an R9 280X, specifically the Sapphire R9 280X Vapor-X.
My specs are:
CPU: AMD FX6100 Turbo 3.9GHz
RAM: MEMSeven 8GB DDR3 PC-1333
MOBO: ASUS M5A78L-M
PSU: 600W LC-POWER Silent-Deluxe

I don't see a problem with it other than your PSU. It's not that the PSU definitely won't work, but it would highly advisable to grab maybe 700W+ PSU for something that powerful. That card alone is rated at about 225W by itself.

Also not a very reliable PSU brand. Your CPU is also pretty weak, but shouldn't result in you not being able to run the card. It may cause a bottleneck though.

Your 600W PSU has 2 x +12V rails rated at 38 amps total. Enough for that 250W card, 125W CPU, and a normal system. The only problem will be the fact that the PSU has 1 x 6 pin and 1 x 6+2 pin PCIe cable. But the card requires 2 x 8 pin.
If you go with an adapter to power the card temporarily, I'd suggest looking into a slightly bigger PSU with 2 x 8p PCIe cables.

Wattage- and ampere-wise, the PSU is fine. However, you will be short one 8-pin PCIe power connector, which you would have to fix by buying a molex to 8-pin adapter cable. The PSU is not one of the top brands out there so I would not talk about its reliability. If at all possible, I would upgrade to a better brand such as Seasonic, XFX, PC Power & Cooling, Antec, Corsair.

Yes; that PSU will work wonders. XFX's PSUs are manufactured by Seasonic, who is arguably the best PSU OEM on the market today.

That's a CPU/MB extension. You will want one of these: http://www.amazon.de/Wentronic-Internes-Stromkabel-Stecker-Express/dp/B002E4V414/ref=pd_sim_computers_3 If you use your existing PSU.

But with that XFX PSU, you won't need an adapter. It has the correct connectors.
