Question Will MyBook Duo format replacement drives?

I've used a 20tb MyBook Duo as a disk donor to my new NAS, meaning it's now going spare and it seems a shame to waste it.

I've got 2 "spare" 4tb drives taken out of my second PC (replaced with 6tb ones out of my primary PC) but don't want to wipe them yet. I've got no spare SATA slots on either of my PCs though.

If I put them into the MyBook Duo shell, will it reformat the drives before I get a chance to do anything with them?? Or will they appear with the existing data accessible?

Tried it anyway. It wants to re-initialise the drives, so I suspect if I continued it would reformat and wipe the data. Will take them out and clear them down myself first then! Was worth a try....
