Will new CPU work in old board

I got the AMD FX 8310 when it was on sale for 99 bucks, i have a ASUS M5A99X EVO AM3+ AMD 990X, the chip is not on the supported list probably because its so new, will it work anyway? I emailed Asus and all the did was send me the supported CPU list which i had already looked at, i have not opened the CPU yet just in case it will not work but the 8300 and 8320 are both supported, i am running a FX 4100 cpu now BTW, is it a good upgrade?

IT should work. But it MIGHT need a BIOS update which ASUS should release soon. BUT it should just work.
