My laptop with integrated graphics and i7-3610QM had trouble running F4 when I went into cities. So I ordered a new Toshiba i7-6500U 2 core, 4GB NVIDIA 950M, 256 SSD + 1TB hybrid HDD, 1920x1080. After I placed the order I noticed this was 2 core not 4 core. Have I screwed up? I am not the type who needs ultra settings, just need not to have frame rate issues. In addition to gaming, I video edit HD football videos and use Microsoft Office.

If you ever do any rendering, CAD, etc. work with your laptop, it would probably be better to return it for a quad-core i7.

I don't think the i7-6500U and 950M will bottleneck each other much, but you could definitely get a better gaming laptop if you wanted ($$$). My suggestion would be just to try it out first, see what you think.

Laptops really aren't built for gaming, but your new laptop should be faster than your old one. The cpu isn't really going to be a problem as it is intel's newest processor part of the skylake series.
