Hello.
I am interested in upgrading my PC's graphics card. Currently my PC's specs are:

AMD A8-9600 3.10 GHz, quadcore
AMD Radeon R7 Shared Memory
8 GB RAM DDR4
1.0 TB HDD
OS: Windows 10
Monitor: ASUS (60hz)

More specifically, when i play CSGO i have extremely low fps (30-40) so i will probably need to upgrade my GPU. I have an extra EVGA GT 710 2GB DDR3. I was just wondering if with this card i will be able to gain at least descent fps (100+) or it will be a lost effort.

Thanks in advance.
(p.s. sorry for my bad english :) )

As others have said, the GT 710 is significantly slower than what you have now.
Minimum cards to look at if you want to improve performance would be a GeForce GTX 750 or Radeon R7 260.

These are both older cards but you might find them second hand.
Newer replacements for the GeForce GTX 750 are the GTX 950 and GTX 1050, which are both much better.
Newer replacements for the Radeon R7 260 are the R7 360 and R7 460, the R7 360 isn't much different to the older R7 260 but the R7 460 is almost as good as the GTX 950 and GTX 1050.

Note that the GeForce GTX 950, Radeon R7 260 and R7 360 have higher power requirements and need a PCI-E power connector and a decent power supply.
Other cards listed can draw their power just from the motherboard...

EDIT
[strike]A 710 should be good. CSGO is, as you probably know, not a very difficult game to run, especially because most players use low settings. I am a little confused, do you have a 710, or are you looking at buying a new GPU? just curious as there might be better options for your budget. [/strike]

I looked into this further, and I misunderstood your current setup. the 710 would result in little to know improvement in FPS, at best. What's your budget so we can help you upgrade more effectively?

Normally I'd agree with you, but CS is not played at 1080p or decent game settings intentionally. All players who know even a bit about the game or play frequently play on the lowest settings, and at super low 4:3 res (like 800x600 or 1024x768).

He should be able to run it.

Thanks for your quick response.
The specific GPU is from an older pc tower that one of my friends has. Of course i am not expecting of running the game on 1080p. More likely in 4:3 resolution with low settings. I just want to run CSGO smoothly cause now with my PC i have huge fps drops.

A gt 710 is a downgrade for what you have now.

do you have a budget? there are probably better ways you could spend your money then on a 710.

I'm a CS veteran and I play on 1080p and max settings. Of course my engine allows me to play above 60fps. Not many better players than me in a server I play. Not a pro, but still a top player. Those low-res maniacs with mega low settings on decent rigs always made me smile. Well, whatever.

Forgot to mention that. I won't spend any many obtaining this card. I was just asking if it worth's the try installing it on my tower. It's just with only the R7 on the tower it's pretty difficult running games, even CSGO in low resolution and settings. When i was playing on my laptop the game was running smoothly with the nvidia 620m , that's why i was thinking that the 710 will solve my problem.

Good on you, but you're still the exception to the rule. 4:3 low res and low settings are universal @ the pro level, and the norm above like MGE.

The integrated graphics in your A8-9600 are better than the GT 620M. Maybe your issue is CPU rather than graphics. These AMD APUs have very poor performance in anything that relies heavily on a single thread. Does the laptop have an Intel CPU?

Thanks for your responses guys! I will try and update my GPU, of course not with 710 as you suggested, and see the results. If there is no improvement then its CPU's problem.
