Will OEM code properly activate trial?

I recently finished building my first computer but my operating system had not yet arrived. Me being the impatient person I am found a trial version off of softpedia that will give full access for 10 days which is more than enough before I get my OEM copy. I would just like to ask if the code from the OEM copy will work at activating this trial or if I must reinstall the operating system from the OEM disk for it to work?

It should work, but if it doesn't, you'll have to reinstall. Either way, it's not that big of a deal; you can't have all that much you want to save after a couple days, yeah?

I suppose so but there are many things that I would strongly prefer not to have to reinstall.

Fair enough. But anyways, like I said, it should work - I just can't guarantee it.

Of course he could always uninstall the "Trial Key" and then install the OEM Key.

This article describes the process for moving your key from a pc you are selling, to a new one, but it should have the same effect.
