Will old graphic card hurt performance of modern system?

I am trying to build a low budget system: Intel Celeron G1840 cpu + ASUS B85M-G R2.0 MB + 8GB S Skill ripjaw DDR3-1600 ram. I could connect my monitor to MB directly. However, since I have a spare graphic card, which is a Geforce 8500 GT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814122023), I am thinking to install it in my new system and connect my monitor on the graphic card.

My question is: Will my system be worse off by adding this graphic card?

Thank you in advance for any help and advice.

That hierarchy chart was for gaming...

If I understand it correctly, are you saying Geforce 8500 gt is on par with Intel HD graphics 3000? which is better than Intel HD graphics on Celeron chip? I build this Pc mainly for watching movies, will the graphic card perform better than the Intel HD graphics on Celeron?

I am really a clueless beginner in the computer hardware, thank you so much for helping me!

That hierarchy chart was for gaming only. Either the card or the integrated will be sufficient for movies. There's no graphic rendering to be done as there is in gaming. In gaming, each frame has to be rendered (drawn) on the fly as the player moves though the map. But movies are already rendered. The CPU does all the work of streaming the movie to your PC, the GPU is simply used to pass the frames to the screen.

But to answer your question, the old 8500 GT is on a par with the HD 3000 integrated graphics, yes. But I believe your Celeron only has what Intel refers to as the HD Graphics; a lower class of graphics than the 3000. For movie watching, you will do the same with either GPU. Neither will have to work very hard. But the newer integrated video may have features the older discrete card doesn't.
