Will overclocking CPU = more FPS in games?

My rig is a Dell Inspiron
Ryzen 7 1700x
gtx 1060 6gb
16gb ddr4 2400
I only really play Battlefield 1 right now and I average about 105 FPS on ultra detail @1080p.
I am looking to get a Dell 24 inch 1440p monitor.
Would I be able to get more FPS in game if I overclock me Ryzen 7 1700x? IF so , how much of an increase do you think I would get and would that increase be worth the extra strain in my CPU?

You'll get more FPS with an overclock then without. But keep in mind going from 1080P to 1440P your going to lose FPS right there. Again you'll get more FPS with an OC then not at any given resolution. But as the resolution goes up and the GPU becomes the bottleneck the FPS gain from the OC will go down. That said I would OC a r7 1700X assuming you have decent CPU cooling and the theremal head room to do it (ie keep your CPU below 85C...ideally 70C full load).

I know I will lose some FPS by going to 1440p. I figure if I want 60 FPS I will have to lowers setting to high or even medium. While I have my GPU overclocked I have never overclocked a CPU ( worried about damaging it) . I run cpu temp and right now under full load the hottest it has ever gotten is 62C. Not the GPU an the other hand gets to 80-82C.
