[SOLVED] Will overclocking my cpu makes it able to handle faster ram?

My cpu is capable of handling a max RAM speed of 2933MHz. Does overclocking it may makes it able to support 3200Mhz RAM?

If RAM has XMP for 3200MHz, that MB and CPU will not stop it from running at 3200MHz.

Remember OC'ing is not guaranteed to work. The Ryzen 5 3400G is still a Zen+ processor. DDR4-3200 is not an automatic given (sometimes it takes some work with Ryzen calculator), some systems could get as high as 3466MHz and 3600MHz is really rare.

My b-die 3600 XMP profile required adjustment before it worked at 3600 on my 3800x. Yet all 3800x/x570 motherboards can run at 3600 without any effort. Just because you have a xmp profile does not mean it will just work. Sometime the memory controller needs a little tlc voltage wise.

Just nice everything worked for the OP...

That "should" work, make sure to check the motherboard manufacturers QVL memory list to see if the kit you are buying is supported. Also take a peek at X470 motherboards, I've noticed that the B450 Tomahawk Max can come close in price to the X470 boards which are far better.

according to the MSI reps, tehy hit 4400 on the lowest tier motherboards for x570 so that means air cooled
you forgot, zen and zen+ were limited by the normal cores. how do i mean?
on my 1800x, i could easily hit 3600mhz ram stable, but i also had to stay at 3.6ghz all core no overclock no boost. the moment i overclock the cpu, 3600mhz became unstable and would crash. so i had a choice, 3.6 with 3600 ram, or 4.0 with 3200 ram. common sense says 4.0 and 3200. now that the memory controller is on the IO chip and cores separate, the cores can no longer effect memory clocks. Its almost akin to back in the day when the memory controller was on the motherboard (thinking old intel).
So if the reps say 4400 on low tier x570, I automatically assume no liquid nitrogen or any of that special b.s.

Just remember every cpu is different but I had the same issue with my 4930k. Would not do 4.6GHz with 2400MHz RAM but 4.5GHz with 2400MHz RAM fine. Toms hardware overclocked the memory to DDR4-3466 with 14-14-14-34 timings. I think the main issue with zen+ with that the Infinity Fabric would overclock with the RAM and at some point you just hit a wall. The Infinity Fabric being the limiting part to a RAM overclock. If I remember correctly with Zen 2 you can use a ratio between IF and memory clocks. Thus you take a latency hit but are able to push the RAM frequency much higher than the IF limit (5000MT/s). Even with Zen 2 the IF limit is about 1800MHz or 3600MT/s RAM. If you keep IF and memory running 1:1 then this is your limit.
