Question Will PC post if CMOS jumper is in clear CMOS mode?

Will computer turn on without CMOS battery and CMOS restart jumper in clear CMOS mode?

I'm pretty sure it is not recommended to power the PC on when the BIOS's CMOS RAM is shorted to ground. Personally, I'd be hesitant.

It is definitely NOT recommended to power on a pc with the CLR CMOS pins shorted. Read your MB manual for the proper procedure to clear the CMOS.

I would guess that it would turn on BUT probably damage the CMOS chip and possibly other on board components as well.

You have knowingly asked a question that people don't have the answer to, for the reason stated by Phillip Corcoran.

To answer the first half of your question, the missing battery won't keep the PC from turning on. It just keeps the CMOS memory refreshed. Your BIOS may revert to default w/o the battery.
