I found a deal on a CPU that had bent pins. The person selling it said they straightened the pins but that it shuts down like it is getting hot, but isn't hot. I am guessing maybe they are looking at a temp reading in the bios as their PC won't start. That being said, they also said that it would post fine. If a CPU is absolutely gone, would it still post like that? I am inclined to think that their bios may have had some setting changed making it off or power issue or something since it apparently posts properly.

It is about 1/5 normal price, is it worth taking a chance on?

Turns out, the problem the seller was having was actually a motherboard issue. It said it would support the CPU but in reality it didn't have the power and the cooling for that processor. He was using an ASUS m78 board and on next gen games the board would just crash his PC. It started happening to me also on next gen games, only on next gen games. The temp was running about the same as the last gen games, so I knew it wasn't the temp. And a CPU doesn't turn on and start up for just a while. They tend to either work or not work. So I replaced my motherboard with an Asrock and it is working great.

I don't think I was lucky that it works. I think I was lucky that the person who sold it didn't research the problem well enough...
Glad I didn't listen to you guys!!!! I went ahead and took a chance on it and got it and it is working perfectly. I now have all components above the recommended hardware for Mass Effect Andromeda.

LOL, not in so many words. But you did suggest that burning my money would be just as effective, LOL. But it was only $39.99, so it all worked out.
