Will Powerline Networking work in Japan

Specifically, will Powerline Networking devices be OK in an apartment building that has 117 vac 50 Hz (rather than U.S. standard 60 Hz)?

I can't see why the power frequency should matter, but I don't want to recommend this technology to someone only to find out that it won't work properly.

I belive most are made to run at 120v-230v @ 50hz-60hz

It should be no problem, as long as it is specifically stated that it can work in the 50-60hz range, like the above

Thanks. The specs for the Netgear models I was looking at were silent on the power specs.

why not get them when he gets there instead of trying to make US based ones work with Japans 100v outlets (not 117v) two prong system. The few power line adapters I've dealt with all had the third ground plug here in the USA which is not all that common over there from what my navy friend says.

Depending on where they are going, frequency will be 50hz (basically eastern japan) or 60hz (in the west side) but that should not make much difference.

My friend says pretty much anything 2 pronged here will work fine there.

From what I understand, the building he's in has 117 v 50 Hz and 3-prong outlets -- but you make a good point.
