Will reformating a corrupted SSD work?

My "friends" as the category 5 insufferable humans that they are, were messing with my pocket ssd while I was away making a presentation. The ssd in question is the visiontek 120GB USB 3.0 pocket ssd. The message that shows is something to the effect of K:\ is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. Would reformatting the SSD let me access it again? The files on there were insignificant so recovery of them is not important.
