Will Sata + Sata II drive decrease speed?

Hi all,

I'm building a new computer and have a SATA II hard disk for my new system.
From my old computer I have 2 SATA-150 drives. I was wondering that when my SATA II is my main drive and the SATA an extra storage drive, if this would decrease the speed of my SATA II drive?

Will have no affect as the controller is backwards compatible and the drives are on separate channels.
