On a desktop the psu and likely the cpu were damaged.
I got a new psu. When I turn on the computer, the psu fan and cpu fan start. Nothing shows on the display. Pressing the on button does not turn off the computer. If I remove the cpu and turn on the computer I get the same result. Will a working mainboard with no cpu show something on the display when the computer is turned on? I want to know because I do not want to buy another cpu if it can be determined, that the mainboard is damaged.
Thanks.

Then the mainboard may be not damaged?

If there is no cpu in the motherboard, the pc won't be able to display anything.
So you said there was no display even with the cpu inside, then you took it out? Is it possible you might have damaged one of the pins on the cpu? Could be possible that the cpu isn't going in right.

The computer got damaged with a loud boom. There was a lot of smoke in the cabinet. I think the cpu is damaged. Not because of a pin. It is more about if the cpu and psu also damaged the mainboard. Asrock m3a785gmh/128m. The cabinet speaker is connected. It says nothing if you turn on the computer.
