CPU-
i5 -2310 stock fan and i recently reapplied thermal grease,
DH61WW intel motherboard
2GB DDR3 1333mhz X2 ( not one of those fancy gaming rams, these r those old green with black chips on them)
1TB HDD WD green X2
500Watt PSU ( not a fancy one, honestly i might have cheaped out on PSU)
LG optical drive
Problem-
it just freezes or slow down when switching between tasks
like minimizing google chrome and checking something in storage
or say i have opened few windows in chrome, one of them is youtube and i minimize chrome and play something on VLC or mediaplayer it will slow down or freeze
(slow down like if you try to play media file or something while antivirus in scanning)
yes it does finish the task and get back to normal after few mins i dont have to restart it but it is really annoying (takes min or 2)
- i have filled like 60% of 2TB storage
- dont have any fancy programs installed only basic stuff like browser, antivirus, bittorrent, VLC, IDM, winzip all that basic stuff .. nothing fancy, no games.
--browser, youtube , media and making notes thats all i use my PC for .. no games no software work or anything
if i am doing single task nothing else it all quick and snappy. like if i am playing some game like MW3 single player in 720p, shadow off, medium texture details it dont slow down or anything while playing, game runs very smoothly
Queries-
how can i fix it will SSD help ? can i even install a SSD on this old PC ? how much of improvement will it be i mean will be worth getting SSD ?
or getting 1600Mhz 8 gb rams will help ??
it takes anywhere between 120-150sec to boot up, is that normal ?? most of time it takes is after i see the wallpaper it takes sometime before i can do anything like open any folder of chrome, initially after i just started it up
i use full HD display on intel HD2000, dont have any external GPU could that be causing it ??
i been thinking of getting i3 8100 but i am not sure if that would be an improvement worth purchasing.
and getting i5 8400 will cost 3times what i spent on my current CPU and is only 80-90% improvement plus Six cores are way too many for watching youtube, movies or playing Songs.
appreciated the help guys.. thanks
