Was wondering if my motherboard (ASUS M5A97 Plus) is compatible with the AMD FX-9590 CPU. The motherboard is the same socket (AM3+) but I just wasn't sure if it would be able to handle a 220W CPU. I also wanted to know if my 750W psu would be able to handle a 220W CPU

Solution
No, the ASUS website rates that board up to 140w and it's not on the supported cpu list. The 9590 is generally considered awful, it needs a high end motherboard and cooling solution and AMD recommend a 850-1000w psu although that a little over the top. It is then beaten in most tasks by a stock i5 or even i3, very few scenarios does it show any real benefit from it's extra cores
