Will the ASUS Sabertooth X79 supports Xeon E5-2690 v1 as well?

The site specs say E5-2690 V2 but I've got a E5-2690 V1, the Intel site lists them as using the same socket, what do you guys think, could it support V1 as well?

Thanks for the advise however I took the chance and it worked out perfectly!

From what I've been reading just about ANY board with a compatible socket will run the Xeon E5's, the board I used happened to be an Asus Sabertooth.

Yes it will, even though the manual only specifies V2 the board will work perfectly with a V1.
