Will the ASUS Z87-Pro WiFi be upgradeable to 802.11ac (like Deluxe)?

Looking to get the Z87-Pro but don't want to be stuck with 'n' WiFi. It would be nice to know if i could upgrade later to the 'ac' WiFi.

I don't need all the Deluxe features and am looking to save $$$ where possible. Which also brings to question: should i get the Plus version and then just add PCI WiFi card in the future?

I really like the idea of WiFi-Go and being able to DNLA to multiple devices in the house....

Thoughts?

if you want wifi on your board, just get a separate adapter. they will be much better than anything that is built in

and for the heck of it, you shouldnt be using wifi for anything other than a laptop, a phone or a tablet

Thanks Praz, that answered the question. And yes, Troll, i agree but some old houses are extremely hard to wire and wireless AC is promising as N does the trick for me except HD streaming or file transfers.

Thanks again, great (and very educational) forums here....

Actually, the shield is just held on with 2 screws on the back of the motherboard and the card underneath is connected via standard mini pci-e, like you'd find in a laptop. I just replaced mine with an Intel 7260 AC adapter. If you don't need the wireless, I don't see why you couldn't stick a mini pci-e SSD or something in there too.

Hello

Any module installed in the place of the supplied Wi-Fi card requires proper UEFI support. Something different may or may not work.

Maybe I just got lucky then: http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-031080.htm
There are probably plenty that do support UEFI if you want to play it safe, though.
