Will the Broadwell fit in the same socket as the Haswell?

I am curious, because I'm thinking of upgrading my pc to a 4770k Haswell CPU with the intention of upgrading later on again to a Broadwell.

Does the Broadwell work with the Haswell socket, or will i have to buy another motherboard later on?

Some say it will some say it will not. Until there is a working chip it is hard to really say for sure. I would never base a upgrade purely on whether the next CPU would work with the current motherboard because until it is out there is no way to tell.

As far as I understand it, and I may be wrong, that said!

It is supposed to be an 1150 socket, but requiring a series 9 hardware chip set on the M/B, which means, yep you guessed it, a new 1150 M/B with the new hardware chip set, the old M/Bs won't be able to be BIOS flashed, because they won't contain the necessary hardware inside the chip set.

I forget where I read it but I think that Broadwell will have the 1150 socket but there will be a new chipset that you will have to us with the broadwell CPU. Don't quote me I could be wrong it has been a bit since i looked it up.

Chances are even if it uses the same socket it will require the new chipset. That said though you may possibly be able to use a haswell chip in the new M/Bs.

Yes, there are already some motherboard's which supports Broadwell processor.
The one that I know is MSI Z97 Gaming 7

Intel says so here, so I take it that any motherboards with the Z97 Chipset will work with the Broadwells. http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/chipsets/performance-chipsets/z97-chipset-brief.html You have to read through it all of the way, but I hope this answers your question.

buy the CPU if it works great! if it doesnt, than return it
