Will the cpu work without updated bios

I'm going to order these parts but on the asus website it says you have to update bios to use cpu is this right here are the names of parts

Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0

can i boot the pc to update bios

You usually need a cpu that the bios supports to update the bios. See if you can check the bios that the mobo ships with.
