Will the E5-1680 V2 work on the ASRock X79 Extreme6?

I do not see the E5-1680 V2 listed on the supported CPU list for the ASRock X79 Extreme 6. Does anyone know if the E5-1680 V2 will work on the ASRock X79 Extreme 6 motherboard?

They are both the same socket type so I wouldn't see why not.

It's compatible with other E5 1000v2 cpus so should work with them all. But same socket does not mean much as far as compatibility goes.

That is what I was thinking. I will probably contact ASRock tech support to see if it will work. Thanks for your answer.
