Will the FX 8310 bottlene k the GTX 980 ti or 980 ?

Solution

That's not the only reason you shouldn't buy an AM3 system right now. Back 3 years ago the FX-8350 could easily compete with Ivy Bridge, but since then Intel has advanced quite a lot with each generation while AMD has essentially shot themselves in the foot time and time again. The 83XX has no upgrade path other than the 9590, which is...
YES IT WILL!
There will be quite a heavy bottleneck with this processor.
Do not get an AMD processor, they have very poor IPC (instructions per core) and are not well optimized for many games.
Give me your current specs for your PC, and your budget, and I will put together an upgrade for you.
You want to stay away from the AM3+ platform, as it is essentially a dying platform at this point in time.

hold on I don't think 8310 will heavy bottleneck check out this review now note is for hte 8370 so it that is faster but they do test with 970 in SLI which is faster than a signal 980

Note that the 8350 has a higher clock speed than the 8310, and that the Intel counter parts that retail for similar prices also outperform them by a mile.
It will still bottleneck a 980 a little bit, but only by about 5% or so, so not very noticeable.
There are still many better options though, such as the i5 6400 which isn't that much more expensive than the 8350, but still outperforms it by a decent margin while consuming less power.

Feasibly, that would be very impractical to do, but I can see it being a very helpful endeavor if it is successful.
The problem is that there are so many factors which could influence performance during tests; motherboards, RAM, power supply; but if they use high end components to prevent bottleneck and recommend minimum component choices for use with said CPU, it could be a good idea.
Still, I don't think it is very practical to undertake, especially given the other strenuous tasks the site staff undertake.

The problem is that the 980 is essentially the highest GPU you can go for with the 8350, while something like an intel i5 will work with a 1080 or 980ti no sweat, albeit without the extra power an i7 provides.

Solution
while he doesn't state it I was hoping he already has the 8310 and was upgrading his GPU, if that is the case (and depending what he has now) I was just saying a that he may lose 5-10% fps on games that are aren't GPU defendant but still may be a increase to what he has and show allow him to still play games pretty well.
