[SOLVED] Will the i5 8600k bottleneck a 3070/3080 at 1080p 60hz?

I'm planning on buying the new 3070 or 3080 for 1080p 60fps gaming (currently owning a 1060 6gb) . I just wanna play fps games and everything else (cyberpunk and new titles) at max settings but maybe the 3080 might be an overkill for those settings and maybe chaning monitor in 2-3 years.

My question is if my 8600k will be enough for a 3070/3080 at 1080p 60fps or will it bottleneck the gpu?

3070/3080 is a total waste on 1080p 60hz.
Why not just get a 1660 series and upgrade to newer GPUs when you upgrade the monitor? 2-3 years is a long time. You might get double the performance or something like that if you're lucky.
And no bottlenecks, the 8600k is more than enough for 1080p @60.

The 3070 would be overkill for 1080p, especially at 60Hz. The reviews next week will shed some light on this.

If you wanted to play Cyberpunk and all the other games with RT, you're better served waiting for an RTX 3060 or the RDNA2 equivalent (depending on how well RDNA2 does RT)

Agree with the above.
Your monitor doesn't justify gpus of that caliber as a necessity, when something of the level of a 1660 Super, or 2060(if you want to use RT) would run that just fine.

Agree on 1660 super. It's a good card. I run a 1080p 144hz screen and have the 1660 super with a ryzen 5 3600. It gives pretty decent frame rates. Not 144 fps, but it gives a decent experience over 60 fps. So I'd say if you're on a budget, a card like that would do so you're not spending a lot. Maybe spend the saved money on a nicer higher refresh rate monitor, then you'll be ready if you decide to go for say a 4070 or 4080 later.
