Will the i7 6700k post for the first time with 3000mhz ram? Or do i need 2133 mhz ram to boot into bios first?

Hi, i'm building a new computer.

I have i7 6700k along with asus z170 pro gaming with 2x8gb 3000mhz ram.

I couldn't get it to post so i'm wondering if it matters ? I have no 2133 mhz ram to try it so..

The RAM will start up as 2133Mhz RAM, until you enable XMP from BIOS.

As for it not posting, is your motherboard BIOS up-to-date? And have you tried using another power-supply?

on asus mb the last 4 numbers of the mb serial number are the bios rev. if it older then the bios rev online download the bios and the bios renamer tool or rename the bios and place it on a usb stick. with the power off put the usb stick in the usb flashback port and hit the usb flashback button. in 2-3 min the light will go off and the mb will be updated.

if the mb posts with the ram in use the bios updater in the bios. then set the ram to xmp profile.
if the mb wont post. pull the gpu and one ram stick or do the usb flashback.
