[SOLVED] Will the i7 7700k lose performace on a z170 motherboard

Recently I upgraded my GPU with a 1080, the mistake that I made was that I paired it with a i5 6400. The bottleneck is pretty bad and I deceided to switch my i5 with an i7 7700k.
My question is will it lose performance because its used on a z170 motherboard?

No lost performance at all at stock speed. Depending on the quality of the motherboard will have an impact on the overclocking ability.

Hope you found a good source on a 7700K for a reasonable price; the current $450 I see on Amazon seems quite steep....! (One could almost get a 9700K and a mainboard for that much)

(Make sure you update the BIOS on the Z170 to a version well after Feb/March 2017)
