Will the MSI Z270 Gaming M3 motherboard work for an I5-8600K?

I’m building a new PC and need to know if that motherboard works out with that CPU. It may be a dumb question, but I’m seeing mixed things on the internet. Thanks!

no, officially z270 does not work for 8600k or other gen 8 coffeelake CPUs.
you need a z370 motherboard for overclocking 8600k, h370,b360,h310 for running 8600k on stock settings.

there is some hack that allow you to hack the old 100/200 series mobo bios and make it work, i personally strongly against it as the power delivery desgin were changed between 100/200 to 300 motherboard, you are very likely to pull too much power on these hacked motherboard and start an electrical fire.

No, you need a 300 series motherboard to run a Coffee Lake. It will not work.
